Ocean Grande Postcard

Hi there, Remember me lol!

It has been a while, and I have been neglecting the blogs for life in reality, because Sh@t happens, ya know.

I don't normally post posts like this on the main page, but there is a very cool Linky Party that I am contributing to today, and also in the hopes of reviving some of these Link Parties too.

This one is called Postcard Friendship Friday, and I just added it to the Friday Directory above, so here goes.

In the 60's my Mum and Dad owned the hotel you see in the pics. Obviously called the Ocean Grande, it was one of the last Deco buildings left from the era of designer Roy F. France

Designed by Roy F. France, the Ocean Grande lies in the Collins Waterfront Historic District near other remaining iconic Art Deco buildings created by the architect, such as the Cavalier, Sands, St. Moritz and the National hotels.

Sadly this beautiful structure lost it's battle against the new horrible box corporations, and was torn down a few years ago. I was still so young when I remember spending summers in the pool that overlooked the ocean, so many memories. It will always remain in my heart.

If you would like to read the story (at least one of them) please continue reading at this link:

  2. I also wanted to add how much I love your postcard--so sad when these old historic buildings are torn down.
